First Paper Piecing...

Zum ersten mal Paper Piecing ('Pineapple') und Kurven genäht..
Diese kleinen Kurven mit der Nähmaschine sind nicht mein Revier.
Aber auf Papier zu nähen hat Spass gemacht.
Nur brauch ich dazu wohl anderes Papier, dass sich leichter entfernen lässt.

On paper was fun to sew.
Only I need another paper that can be removed easily.

Nebenher habe ich ein Top fertig genäht.
Es besteht hauptsächlich aus der B.Brackman Kollektion 'A Morris Tapestry' und 'Morris Workshop'.

I call it 'Wintergarten'

in english compare with 'Sun Porch'.

Hello again for today..

I made the 'Card Trick' block again. The first was too small...

the others are; 'Grandmother's Choice' , 'Broken Dishes' and 'Chinese Coine'..

At the moment I'm trying to small curves .. 'Rob Peter To Pay Paul' ..  *sweating*  ;D

I know not yet how I put the Top together...I am open to foreign ideas and suggestions.. :))

 

my unforgettable cats..

once I had two cats..

This is 'Schultheiss' my first cat. 

He was a handsome village boy with excellent proportions.

He was the chief of the area and was only 4 years - he was poisoned.. 

intentionally or unintentionally.. I do not know. 

unfortunately I had to find him and it broke my heart. 

It's many years ago , but I'm still saddened.

Shortly after we gotten a new addition to the family of a MainCoon tomcat.
He has 9 years accompanies us through our life and given us much joy.

The funniest story we've seen with him, he rushed through the chimney into open cold fireplace in the living room of the neighbors on a Sunday morning. After that he was black and greasy and definitely needed a proper bath. :D 

 In the last 2 years of his life he was suffering from a festering fungus infection in his paws / claws. Because of the many drugs that did not help, he  finally suffered a kidney failure and had to be freed by the veterinarian. That's already 4 years back but I still am not ready for a new cat. too much sorrow..

But the neighborhood cat visited me regularly and I always have food for him ..
And in the summer when we have a barbecue in the garden he is always there.. ;D

'Corn and Beans' and Friends..

Diese Blöcke gingen wieder leichter von der Hand.
'Corn And Beans' , 'Birds In The Air' und 'Windblown Square'.
Ich mag die BLöcke die von der Mitte heraus genäht werden! :) 

These blocks were easier to sew.

'Kansas Trouble'

nur ein Block.
aber 'Kansas Trouble' war eine wirkliche herausforderung.
Du meine Güte, wie oft ich den Nahttrenner benutzen mußte..

but 'Kansas Trouble' was a real challenge.
Good grief, how many I had to use the seam ripper ..

 

It remains in memory.

I think, I have to recover first of it.   ;D

Four new blocks - Vier neue Blöcke

Man täuscht sich wenn man glaubt, Blöcke die einfach aussehen sind es auch.
Gerade dann ist man vielleicht unkonzentriert und schlampert..
Wieder eine Lektion gelernt. ;)

We deceive ourselves, if we believed, blocks that look easy are too.

Just then one is perhaps unfocused and sloppy..
Another lesson learned. ;)

zZ lese ich zum einschlafen den Krimi 'Mensch ohne Hund' von H. Nesser. 
Ja ja, ich weiß, der Fernsehfilm lief vor kurzem im TV. In der Hauptrolle des Kommissar Gunnar Barbarotti war Sylvester Groth zu sehen. Großartiger Schauspieler, leider nur selten im TV zu sehen.

Ocean Waves and Friends - Meereswellen und Freunde

gestern noch zugeschnitten und heute zusammen genäht.
'Ente und Entenkücken' , 'Jakobs Leiter', und 'Meereswellen' ..
Erstes war nicht so einfach. Ich hab die Linien auch nicht gut getroffen.
Aber fürs erstemal, reicht es mir.. ;D

The first was not so simple.I got the lines are not  well matched.
But for the first time, it should be good. ;D

 

So, nun muß ich mich mal endlich der Hausarbeit widmen. Das Bügelbrett darf jetzt größere Stücke Stoff sehen. Ich wünsch euch einen guten Wochenbeginn.

So, I must give time the housework. The ironing board can now see larger pieces of fabric. I wish you a good start of the week.

drei neue Blöcke:

Erster ist zu klein geworden, weil ich die Nahtzugabe in Inch nicht beachtet habe.
Ich gestatte mir noch Anfängerfehler. ;D  (Ich werd ihn nochmal machen..den Blok natürlich, nicht den Fehler.)

Ein Neues Buch - A New Book

Gestern brachte mir die Postbotin ein neues Buch, ein Päckchen aus den USA und einen Patchworkkatalog aus Meissen.

Yesterday brought me the mailwoman a new book, a package from the U.S. and a patchwork catalog from Meissen.

'Remembering Adelia' von Kathleen Tracy ist ein wunderbares Buch mit Anleitungen für 12 historische Quilts in verschiedenen Grössen und Tagebuchauszügen einer gewissen Adelia Bennett die mitte/ende des 19. Jahrhunderts gelebt hat. Es ist wirklich sehr, sehr schön gestaltet.

'Remembering Adelia' by Kathleen Tracy is a wonderful book with instructions for 12 historical quilts in various sizes and diary entries of Adelia Bennett from the middle / end of the 19th Century lived. It's really very, very nicely done.

Mein erstes Stoffpäckchen aus den USA vom Fat Quarter Shop. Vom Tag der Bestellung bis zum Eintreffen vergingen nur 8 Tage.

My first fabric package from the USA by the Fat Quarter Shop. From the date of the order until the arrival took only 8 days.

Bei Meissen gibt es ein  Handarbeitshaus mit Museum. Leider war ich dort noch nicht, aber was ich auf der Webseite sehe, ist schon sehr interessant. Auch die Kurse die sie im Frühjahr im Angebot haben, lassen sich sehen und sind international besetzt. Unter anderem kann man sich auch in einem Gästehaus einmieten. Sollte ich mich dort mal in der Nähe herumtreiben, werde ich ganz bestimmt vorbei schauen.

In Meissen, there is a Manual labour house with Museum. Unfortunately, I was not yet there, but what I see on the website is very interesting. The courses they offer in spring are international. Also you can rent a room in a guesthouse. Should I hang around there once in the area, I will definitely stop off there.

..Currently I watch Alpine Ski World Cup on TV..

..sind heute meine inch lineale. juhuu.. :D
ein großes 6" x 12" Lineal, ein 60° Dreieck bis 8"  und ein Flottes Dreieck. Ich denke, ich werde damit erstmal auskommen. Aber wer von den Profis ein Tipp hat, was noch in ein ordentlichen Quilterhaushalt  gehört, so darf er mir ruhig schreiben. Bin für jeden Hinweis dankbar! :)

A large 6 "x 12" ruler, a 60 ° triangle to 8 " and a Quick triangle.

I think I'll make do with it, or ? But for tips from the experts, I am always thankful. What's missing in a Quilter household, he would write to me, please !! :)

Im Päckchen lag außerdem ein großer Flyer für das anstehende Quiltfestival in Aschaffenburg. Leider ist es für mich zu weit weg.. :-(
